Recolight Ltd

Lamp recycling for business waste
Recolight has provided a completely free lamp recycling service to businesses since 2007, and has created a nationwide network of nearly 1000 B2B collection points for businesses and commercial users to return end-of-life lighting for recycling.

The collection and recycling service is completely free, including the provision of a Recolight container, made possible because we are entirely funded by our lamp producer members.

  • If you collect more than around 1000 lamps every 12 weeks, we can provide you with a container, free of charge, and collect your lamps free of charge too.
  • Planning a retrofit, we offer a free of charge collection and recycling service for quantities of 1000 lamps or more.
  • For smaller quantities, our network of nearly 1,000 collection points means you can easily recycle WEEE lamps from across the UK.

Lamp recycling solutions for consumers
Recolight provides the complete recycling solution for waste CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Lamps – otherwise known as low-energy light bulbs) with its Bulbstore Maxi and Bulbstore Mini
Maxi and Bulbstore Mini. CFLs need to be recycled when they reach end of life due to the small amount of mercury they contain.

RecoLight Recycling bin

The Bulbstore Maxi has been specially designed for outdoor use and provides convenience for consumers to recycle waste CFLs as they do with other materials. As well as 240 containers in place at Sainsbury’s stores nationwide, facilities are also available in partnership with Cambridge Council, Peterborough Council, and the London Borough of Hackney.

Bulb Store mini

The Bulbstore Mini, an indoor collection container, has been designed to be used in convenient community locations. The Bulbstore Mini is the first and only container which has been patented and independently tested to allow for the safe collection of CFLs indoors. Recolight has also partnered with a volunteer led scheme (CoBRA – Community Bulb Recycling Alliance) to help communities recycle their old low-energy light bulbs together. Using the Bulbstore Mini, the volunteers provide a collection facility in convenient locations. Volunteers can sign up at the Cobra Website

About Us
Recolight is a not-for-profit producer-led compliance scheme specialising in the recycling of gas discharge lamps (GDLs), in accordance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations. Recolight was established by the UK lamp producers who account for an overwhelming proportion of new lamps put on the UK market, and now has over 70 producer and importer members. Recolight offers specialist lamp recycling services, advice and support to help all parties in the supply chain recycle their lamps as simply and efficiently as possible.
Since 2007, Recolight has funded the recycling of over 100 million lamps, preventing over a third of a tonne of mercury from entering landfill.
