Barnet Council prepares for redevelopment

Barnet will change significantly over the next 15 years due to more homes and jobs becoming available the high-quality redevelopment planned across the borough.

As a result Brent council wants existing residents to play their part in guiding the preparation of a development framework for Barnet.

The first opportunity comes at workshops this autumn, where residents will be able to give their views on issues affecting the borough including:
• Transport and traffic
• Housing - what kind of homes does the borough need
• Access to schools and health facilities
• Enhancing and protecting Barnet's classic suburban character
• Historic and cultural areas - such as conservation areas
• Natural environment
• Planning for Barnet's economy
• Planning for climate change - including waste management, water efficiency and renewable energy

Cllr Melvin Cohen, Barnet Council's Cabinet Member for Environmental Protection, said: "Barnet is the fastest-growing borough in outer London and there will be considerable changes over the next few years but it is extremely important for the council to hear from residents about what they want to see in the future.
"Feedback from these events will help us plan for a successful suburb where people want to live and work.”
