Blackwell’s wins government contract
Academic and specialist bookseller Blackwell’s have been awarded the contract by the Ministry of Defence to supply nineteen government department’s libraries and buying sections with books.
In an effort to introduce cost savings the Government have pooled book supplier contracts throughout Whitehall into one tender to enable savings through the acquisition process and competitive prices.
David Prescott, managing director of Blackwell’s Bookshops said: “Blackwell’s is pleased to have once again been chosen by an important public sector organisation to be their supplier of books for the next three years. At Blackwell’s we recognise the requirement of all government bodies to reduce costs and find new, more efficient ways of doing business with suppliers. Our tender bid reflected changing procurement needs”
The Ministry of Defence have not tendered book supplier contracts since 2007. This recent round of procurement has found Blackwell’s awarded with eighty five per cent of the overall tender introducing seven new public sector organisations to Blackwell’s roster of clients.
