Crime falls to record low
Crime in England and Wales has fallen to its lowest level since comparable records began in 1981, according to official figures.
The 2010 British Crime Survey revealed that the number of offences dropped by 9 per cent over the 2009/10 period. This is a fall from 10.5 million offences to 9.6 million.
However some categories of violent crime including mugging and violence without injury showed a slight increase.
