Doncaster Council to increase council tax

Doncaster MBC councillors have voted to increase council tax by 2.95 per cent.

Councillors approved the rise by 42 votes to 15.

The increase which is just below the 3 per cent capping limit will take effect in the 2010/11 financial year.

Elected mayor Peter Davies’ proposal for a 3 per cent cut in council tax funded by spending cuts of £18million was thrown out last month.
