Edinburgh Council picks new chief executive
The City of Edinburgh Council has chosen Sue Bruce as its new chief executive.
Sue Bruce, 54, has worked in local government for more than 30 years, starting her career in the education field. She was appointed to the director role in East Dunbartonshire covering Education, Social Work, Housing and Cultural Services in 2000 and then chief executive in 2004.
She became chief executive of Aberdeen City Council in December 2008 and in June this year she was the first public sector leader to receive the Prince's Ambassador in Scotland Award.
The appointment still has to be ratified by the council at its meeting on 16 September.
