Greater Manchester authorities give go ahead to Metrolink lines
Leaders of Greater Manchester's 10 local authorities have confirmed funding of £500million from the Greater Manchester Transport Fund to deliver three new Metrolink lines in the region.
The Association of Greater Manchester Authorities has given the go ahead to three extensions, running to Oldham and Rochdale town centres and to Manchester Airport via Wythenshawe.
Metrolink trams will be running to Oldham and Rochdale town centres by spring 2014 and to Manchester Airport by mid 2016.
Manchester Airports Group has agreed to provide a contribution to funding for the Airport line.
