Lincolnshire County Council plans to cut 35 senior jobs

Lincolnshire Counct Council plans to make 35 of its 94 senior management redundant.

Tony McArdle, chief executive at the Lincolnshire County Council, says this new structure is a direct consequence of the Chancellor’s Spending Review.

He said:

“The proposed structure will reduce the number of senior managers by 37 per cent, taking £3.5m out of the management costs and moving this money into supporting front line services.

“We have been well served by our existing management and I am therefore confident that we will, for the most part, be able to fill this new establishment from within the existing complement of management staff.

“I want us to continue to be a good, competitive employer. I do not believe the way forward is to ask everyone to take across the board pay cuts in order to save jobs. I believe we will get better results by having the best people – even if fewer – properly engaged, who are able to take this organisation forward in the new climate to deliver the best services possible to the people of Lincolnshire.”
