New chief exec for Suffolk County Council
Suffolk County Council has appointed a new chief executive who will be paid nearly £65,000 a year less than the previous chief exexcutive.
Deborah Cadman brings with her 28 years’ public sector experience, six of which was as chief executive at St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
She is currently the chief executive at the East of England Development Agency. Prior to her role at St Edmundsbury, where she led the authority from a Fair to Excellent government rating, she was a lead inspector at the Audit Commission and assistant chief executive at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
Cadman will be paid £155,000 per year - £63,592 less than the previous chief executive was paid and there will be no bonuses or annual pay increments.
Following her appointment, she said: “I’m delighted and honoured to be offered this role which for me is the most exciting job in Suffolk.
“The political direction at Suffolk County Council is clear and I want to work with the leadership, and with staff, who I know have a genuine commitment to delivering for the people of Suffolk.
“Throughout my career I’ve been committed to making a difference in the public sector. I’m going to use my experience and passion to make a difference for the whole of Suffolk.”
