New council customer service centre in Kensington Town Hall
The new centre brings together Council services on the ground floor, giving residents a more efficient service.
The Parking Shop has moved from Young Street to the Town Hall, while Planning, Benefits and Housing have moved from the second and third floors of the Town Hall to the new centre on the ground floor.
They are joined there by Education, Cashiers and Council Tax in the state-of-the-art facilities.
Cllr Merrick Cockell, leader of the Royal borough of Kensington and Chelsea, said:
"This major relocation of services will make it significantly easier for residents to interact with the Council since everything will be in the one place."
"The centre has been carefully designed to ensure that it is bright and welcoming for all residents and has first-class facilities.
"I am sure that people using the new centre will enjoy the bright and airy layout as well being able to access the full range of our excellent services in one place."
The transformation of the ground floor into the new centre took 31 weeks and followed public consultation to make sure it reflected what local people said they needed.
The design team was led by architects Child Graddon Lewis, who were instructed to transform the 1,000 sq metre reception area whilst being sympathetic to the architecture of original building which was opened 30 years ago this year.
