New multi-agency ASB team set up in Shropshire
A new multi-agency team set up to tackle anti-social behaviour issues in Shropshire will benefit from valuable housing expertise thanks to a joint venture between Sanctuary Housing and Shropshire Council.
Through Shropshire’s Safer Stronger Communities Partnership, Sanctuary’s area housing manager, Lucy Holland, has been seconded to lead the housing element of this new, multi-agency team.
Holland will be joined by representatives from West Mercia Police and Shropshire Council. Her post has been funded by Sanctuary, as well as other housing providers in the county including Severnside, South Shropshire Housing Association, Shropshire Rural and Wrekin Housing Trust.
Providing residents with practical help and advice on anti-social behaviour (ASB) issues, the team will develop a tailored approach on a case by case basis.
As Sanctuary’s local housing manager for West Bromwich and Telford, Holland will represent all of the housing providers involved, becoming a central point of contact for housing advice and support.
She said: “I feel privileged to be playing a role in such an important initiative that will help tackle antisocial behaviour right from the heart of the community.
“Not only are we hoping to tackle particular issues more effectively, but also to offer an alternative path for would-be offenders through a focus on prevention, early intervention and rehabilitation.”
Regional director for Sanctuary, Jason MacGilp, added: “We, alongside all of the partners, are fully committed to supporting the victims of ASB and taking action against perpetrators.
“Sanctuary is pleased to be supporting the partnership, by providing funding and seconding Lucy to lead the project.”
