Cardiff to represent UK as European City of Sport for 2009
Friday, 25 July 2008
The Welsh capital has been chosen to represent the UK as European City of Sport for 2009, following a two-day visit from the European Capitals of Sport Association (ACES).

Following this decision, Cardiff will now represent the UK in a European-wide network of premier sporting cities, kicking off by hosting the UK School Games.

The judges picked Cardiff as they felt the city and the Sport Cardiff team matched the criteria: willingness to achieve, sense of  ommunity, learning fair play and improvement of health.
