Notting Hill Housing workers vote to strike

UNISON members working at Notting Hill Housing Trust (NHHT) will take strike action on Monday 15 March, after more than 93 per cent of them voted in favour of industrial action.

Picket lines will be at the Notting Hill office in Hammersmith and at Presentation Housing in Vauxhall.

Notting Hill is due to merge / takeover Presentation at the end of this month.

The dispute is over imposed cuts to terms and conditions, including an end to paid carers’ leave and flexitime. These changes will, by the employers’ own admission, have greatest impact on female staff with caring responsibilities.

Relocation allowances and salary protection have also been cut in advance of likely changes to job roles and office relocation.

Linda Perks, UNISON London Regional Secretary, said:

“NHHT has ignored a petition from more than 300 staff and the result of a consultative ballot of UNISON members last year (in which 95 per cent voted in favour of further action). The employer has also refused to meet with ACAS.

She added:

“Staff will struggle with child and home commitments. The management won't even discuss these changes with them - they are being imposed without discussion, and will produce few savings.”
