Nottinghamshire regeneration receives a boost

NOTTINGHAM Regeneration Limited (NRL) has extended its expertise to advise on projects across the whole of the county.

NRL was originally set up to support Nottingham city’s regeneration, then extending to the Greater Nottingham area and has now announced that it is working across the whole county. NRL will be supporting Mansfield, Ashfield, Bassetlaw and Newark and Sherwood district councils on the delivery of regeneration projects - in addition to the Greater Nottingham area.

To support NRL’s work, its growing list of projects and its extended regeneration map, it has recruited two additional project officers on a temporary basis.

Mich Stevenson, NRL chairman, said: “NRL has secured funding to March 2011 and will continue to support the public and private sector in the delivery of physical regeneration. In a sense we have moved the boundaries to assist on regeneration projects throughout Nottinghamshire.

“The company’s priorities will be guided by the county Joint Leadership Board and the Core City board, which provide the new strategic governance arrangements for economic development in both Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

NRL will continue to be supported by emda, the Homes and Communities Agency, Greater Nottingham Partnership, Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottingham City Council.

NRL was set up as a public-private partnership in 1998. NRL works to improve the local economy and support Nottinghamshire’s regeneration. It helps to create balanced communities with more housing and enhanced retail, leisure and business opportunities.
