Sheffield City Council chooses Apollo for housing contract

The Apollo Group has won a £10million contract to carry out external and Decent Homes work to Sheffield City Council housing stock.

The contractor will deliver insulated over-cladding work to 1,000 dwellings in 40 maisonette blocks of four-, five- and six-storeys on the Lansdowne and Hanover estates in central Sheffield. It will also provide digital TV upgrades for some 700 homes. Another 200 properties will receive Decent Homes improvements work.

The scheme, which will run for two years, is due to start next month and will be delivered by a workforce comprising both approved specialist subcontractors and directly employed labour. Apollo will work with Sheffield City Council to offer local employment training opportunities.
