Solihull Council receives two casino applications

Solihull Council has received two applications for the granting of a large casino licence within its boundaries.

Under the 2005 Gambling Act, the council is only allowed to grant permission for one of the casinos.

Genting Casinos UK has applied to build a casino at the National Exhibition Centre while Grosvenor Casinos has bid to build one on the former restaurant site at Otium Leisure Park, Shirley.

A report will be submitted to Members of the Solihull Licensing Committee on the 15 September 2010.
If neither application is judged to be of any benefit, the council could refuse both of them.
